Bardia National park is situated in the mid far western Terai region of Nepal covering an area of 968 sq km, which was not hit by the 2015 earthquake. Bardia National Park is the largest national park and wilderness area in the Terai and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife-lovers. Untouched and unspoiled by the modern civilization, Bardia National Park is somewhat like Chitwan National Park 25 years ago.
About 30 species of mammals live here including the most elusive royal Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceros, sloth beer, blue bull, wild elephants etc. Bardia national park has more than 250 species of birds as well, including the endangered Bengal florican, sarus crane, yellow-throated Marten, Mongoose and Indian Otter. This national park is also home to various water animals such as gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles, various species of fish and gangetic dolphins. Bardia National Park also has various wild species and abundant flora and fauna for nature lovers.

Day 01Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and drive to the lodge in Bardia national park and little exploration of the surrounding areasUpon arriving in the lodge, you will be offered welcome drinks and given some time to check-in and refreshments. The jungle guide will then brief you about the trip. After lunch, the guide will take you on a Tharu village excursion where you can also visit the Tharu Museum and then visit crocodile breeding center.
Day 02Full day jungle excursion and river bank tripFollow the guide for a full day Jungle walking with the visit to the territories of tiger, rhino and wild elephant and walking along the Karnali river to spot crocodiles and dolphins.
Day 03Elephant back safari/ jeep safari and half day jungle walkThis is the day for an amazing experience of elephant back safari. If interested and time permits, one can also choose the jeep safari to scale the depth of the Bardia National Park. After lunch, the guide will again head the group for half day jungle walk towards the tiger territory.
Day 04Full day rafting trip in Karnali riverThe day is filled with an exciting river rafting trip where you can explore the remote wilderness and spot dolphin and crocodiles.
Day 05Bird watching, Elephant breeding center and departureFollow the guide for an early morning bird watching trip. Then a visit to elephant breeding center to see the big animals up close. After lunch, drive to Nepalgunj airport for the flight back to Kathmandu.
