Chitwan National Park is the first and the most famous national park in Nepal. Formerly known as Royal Chitwan National Park, it was established in 1973 and granted the status of World Heritage Site in 1984 by UNESCO. It covers an area of 932 sq. km and is located in the subtropical Inner Terai lowlands of south-central Nepal. In altitude it ranges from about 100 m in the river valleys to 815 m in the Churia Hills.
Chitwan National Park has long been one of the countrys treasures of natural wonders. It is widely known for one of the richest varieties of wild life adventures. Only 160 km from Kathmandu, 155 km from Pokhara & 160 km from Sunauli (one of the Indian borders), it is also accessible by air and river rafting. It is home to many species of animals such as the world famous royal Bengal tiger, the great one-horned rhinoceros, four different kinds of deer, sloth bear, leopards, crocodiles, monkeys as well as many different species of butterflies, insects & over 500 species of colorful & endangered birds. The park is renowned for its protection of royal Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceros and gharial crocodile.

Elephant Safari
Elephant safari provides opportunity to get a closer view of the wild animals including one-horned rhinoceros, crocodile and one may also get a glimpse of the elusive royal Bengal tiger.
Elephant Bathing
It’s a thrilling way to cool yourself off by taking a wonderful bath with an elephant in the Rapti river. You can help bathe an elephant and at the same time refresh yourself with a unique elephant-trunk shower sitting on top of a friendly elephant. This is something of a lifetime experience.
Canoe Ride
It’s a pleasant ride along the Rapti river on a typical dugout canoe. Its extremely peaceful listening to the swish of the water and watching all the birds come to life.  You may also see crocodiles and other wild animals during the amazing ride.
Jeep Safari
Jeep safari on an open jeep takes you deep into the forest passing through different vegetation providing great opportunity to see many wild animals.
Tharu Cultural Program

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Drive to Sauraha, Chitwan National Park - Elephant stable/ Sunset view from Rapti river bankWe take on a scenic drive to Sauraha, Chitwan National Park with beautiful landscape/lowland Terai/ big flat fields of rice, sugarcane, mustard, wheat etc. Upon arriving at the resort in Sauraha, we will be offered welcome drinks and briefed about the jungle activities. We will be felicitated by a local safari guide and he will take us around the Elephant stable and Rapti river bank for an amazing sunset view. Later in the evening, we go to observe the cultural singing and dancing program of Tharu people at a community Cultural Center where we can enjoy their singing and dancing as well accompany the Tharus for final group dance.

Day 02Jungle and Wildlife activities in Chitwan National Park – Canoeing in Rapti River/ Elephant Breeding Center/ Elephant Bath/ Elephant Back Safari/ Tharu Cultural Program We will have some more wildlife and cultural activities like Canoeing, Elephant Bath, Elephant Safari and Tharu Cultural Program. Today, we will visit the Elephant Breeding Center and meet with some elephants and their babies. We will also take a bath with an elephant and cool ourselves with elephant trunk shower. In the evening, we can relax in the resort or walk to the riverside beach for some drinks with the sunset.

Day 03Morning activities in Chitwan/ nature walk/bird watching/Departure You are given an early wake-up call to go to bird watching tour. After some hot drinks, the jungle guide will take you for an amazing bird watching tour in near-by field or forest and you get to see many interesting birds. After getting back from the bird watching tour, we take our breakfast and prepare for the departure. We will depart Chitwan NP around 9:30 AM.
