Kanchenjunga region lies in the far North-Eastern Nepal bordering with India (Sikkim) and only a few miles from Tibet. Kanchenjungha (8586 m) is the third highest mountain in the world. Fairly remote and distant, the Kanchenjungha region treks are less crowded than other major treks in Nepal. Kanchenjunga treks was only opened in 1988 for the outside tourists, which starts in the foothills of Eastern Nepal through beautiful mid-hill villages of Rai and Limbu ethnic people. The region is decorated with diverse landscape, pristine natural beauty, serene environment, lush forests, traditional villages, Himalayan meadows, fascinating glaciers and great Himalayan panorama. The trekkers are rewarded with amazing Himalayan vista. Four of the five highest mountains in the world including the almighty Everest,Lhotse and Makalu lies in the neighboring region offering their magnificent views. The Kanchenjungha massif is also decorated with about twenty other neighboring peaks exceeding 7000 meters. Kanchenjunga region trail endeavors into fairly virgin and unblemished part of Nepal which follows picturesque river valleys, attractively terraced fields, dense forests and traditional hamlet and villages. One may also enjoy the authentic rural life experience and mingle with the interesting culture, tradition and lifestyle of the native Rais and Limbus. Though a bit longer, farther away and difficult Kanchenjungha region is one of the most sought-after treks in Nepal amongst the fit, adventurous and enthusiastic trekkers.
